Description
A classic diamond ring that features a sparkling central 2.50ct Asscher cut diamond. Secured by four expertly hand-shaped platinum corner claws, this modern ring has been designed in homage to the solid architectural forms of the early 19th-century Regency period. The statement central diamond has been perfectly complemented by two slim tapering baguette cut stones (0.43ct), that have been set on either side. The central diamond set into this ring is accompanied by certification from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), confirming sought after F colour and VS1 clarity grades. First seen in the early 20th century, the larger and wider-set facets of the Asscher cut gained huge popularity due to their eye-catching scintillation. The late Hollywood icon, Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011), had a lifelong passion for jewellery, and was presented with a 33.19ct Asscher cut diamond ring by her husband, the actor Richard Burton, in 1968. Originally belonging to the German actress Vera Krupp, this now legendary diamond (renamed the Elizabeth Taylor diamond) was worn frequently for the next forty-three years, and sold for over eight million dollars at the auction of her impressive jewellery collection in 2011. Handcrafted in our workshops in the heart of England, this ring offers the superb quality of the Pragnell Seal and showcases exceptional artistry, craftsmanship and gemstones.
