About Patek Philippe Calatrava
First seen in the 1930s and inspired by the clean lines of the Bauhaus movement, the Patek Philippe Calatrava family is much beloved by watch connoisseurs for showcasing the most classic and elegant dress watches. Named after the 12th-century cruciform Calatrava cross symbol that was emblazoned on the banners of the Calatrava Knights this symbol has become closely associated with Patek Philippe since the 1960s.
Entering their 182nd year in 2021, Patek Philippe have continued their focus on producing the very best watches for men and ladies that showcase their dedication to high horology coupled with the very best refined and classic style. The Calatrava family is no exception with fifteen models in gleaming white, yellow, and rose gold that offer supreme legibility. The 5196P-001 is particularly special with a hand-polished platinum case and iconic Breguet numerals. The collection also features the familiar guilloched hobnail pattern, known as Clous de Paris. This traditional finish can be found on both 6119 references and requires great skill and expertise to achieve. First appearing in the 1980s this has become synonymous with the family and comes alive when exposed to the light. Precise gem setting, hand engraving and enamelling skills can also be found in the Calatrava family, and showcase a continuation of traditional Genevan crafts.
