Asscher Cut 1.51ct Diamond Ring in Platinum

A central 1.51ct Asscher cut diamond has been flanked by two smaller baguette cut stones (0.25ct) in this classic design. Reminding us of icy glacial waters that both chill and refresh, the central diamond is certified (GIA) as G colour, VS2 clarity. First seen in the early 20th century the larger and wider-set facets of the Asscher cut gained huge popularity due to the eye-catching scintillation produced by this special cut. The late Hollywood icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) had a lifelong passion for jewellery and was presented with a 33.19ct Asscher cut diamond ring by her husband the actor Richard Burton in 1968. Originally belonging to the German actress Vera Krupp this now legendary diamond (renamed the Elizabeth Taylor diamond) was worn frequently for the next forty-three years and sold for over eight million dollars at the auction of her impressive jewellery collection in 2011.
