Description
A central 1.04ct Asscher cut diamond has been framed by 0.19ct of sparkling brilliant cut diamonds in this classic design. This beautiful diamond is accompanied by certification from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), confirming sought-after F colours and VS2 clarity grades. First seen in the early 20th century, the larger and wider-set facets of the Asscher cut gained huge popularity due to their eye-catching scintillation. The late Hollywood icon, Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011), had a lifelong passion for jewellery and was presented with a 33.19ct Asscher cut diamond ring by her husband, the actor Richard Burton, in 1968. Originally belonging to the German actress Vera Krupp, this now legendary diamond (renamed the Elizabeth Taylor diamond) was worn frequently for the next forty-three years, and sold for over eight million dollars at the auction of her impressive jewellery collection in 2011.
