Description
A patriotic three row diamond, ruby and sapphire ring (0.97ct) from the Victorian period. Resonating with the colours of the Union Jack sparkling old cut diamonds, rubies and sapphires have been securely claw set into three distinct rows. Originally made in warm 18ct yellow gold it is likely that this ring was plated at a later date to showcase a fresher whiter colour tone. Bearing full hallmarks for Birmingham for the year 1893 this beautiful ring is nearing one hundred and thirty years old. Sentimental rings set with sparkling diamonds and gemstones became increasingly popular during the Victorian period when it became fashionable to wear multiple rings on each hand. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives, who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large. The Victorians loved anything bestowed with meaning, and this was particularly true for jewellery. The ‘Romantic’ period of this era represented a time of marital bliss for Queen Victoria. Showcasing the birthstones for April, July, and September this beautiful ring is perfect to wear and enjoy from day to night.
