A sapphire beetle brooch from the Victorian period. An antique, trillion cut blue sapphire depicts the shining body of the beetle with a diamond and seed pearl set head, and expertly carved gold legs and pincers. Set into a gold coin shaped pin brooch.
The carved gold details are intricate and precise, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of the period.
The Victorian era marked a time dedicated to religion and love. Common motifs in the jewellery of the time were symbolisms drawn from Nature.
