Antique Victorian Gold Running Fox Pendant in 9ct Yellow Gold
Description
A characterful textured 9ct yellow gold running fox forms the centrepiece of this immensely wearable pendant. Originally an elegant stick pin from the Victorian period this was designed to take pride of place in the lapel of a jacket. Crafted out of 9ct yellow gold the figure of the fox has been expertly detailed with ears pricked in an alert pose. Fox hunting can be traced back to the early 16th century and was a hugely important pastime for wealthy and noble landowners in the 19th and 20th centuries. The season ran from October to May, and hunts took place on nearly all the major country estates. Hunting parties have also long been associated with royalty with the future King Edward VII hosting many at his Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Expertly converted in the Pragnell workshops into a stylish pendant this has been paired with a simple 18ct yellow gold 44cm chain.
