Description
The Victorians were experts at creating exceptional quality gold jewellery, with surviving pieces being highly sought after by collectors today. This ring is a truly romantic jewel and was clearly inspired by the natural world. A central charming 1.70ct old cut rub over set diamond centres an intricately engraved open flower motif. Four additional compass point set smaller old cut diamonds (totalling 1.30ct) complete the design, with engraved foliage scrollwork defining the main ground and half shoulders. The ornamental Victorian garden was a true assault on the senses, with borders full of combinations of colourful and fragrant flowers that are still copied today. These colours have been encapsulated forever in the rainbow flashes of the diamonds, with the warmth and intensity of the summer sun seen in the rich 15ct yellow gold mount. The delicate engraving demonstrates the high quality craftsmanship of the famed ‘Romantic’ period.
