Description
A classic diamond and Thai ruby three stone ring from the Victorian period. Featuring two rich red cushion cut rubies (1.55cts), and one central old cut diamond that have been securely claw set in 18ct yellow gold. An openwork gallery showcasing scrollwork patterns completes this classic 19th-century design. Traditionally worn together rubies and diamonds have a rich history in jewellery with diamonds symbolising love and prosperity, and rubies passion and devotion. Three-stone rings are known to represent the past, present and future of your relationship. They became increasingly popular in the Victorian period when it became fashionable to wear multiple rings on each hand. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives, who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large. Victorians loved anything bestowed with meaning and this was particularly true for jewellery. The 'Romantic' period of this era represented a time of marital bliss for Queen Victoria. The desirable rubies set into this ring are accompanied by certification from the GCS (Gemmological Certification Services) to confirm Thai origin, and that they have not been subjected to any heat treatment to enhance their colour. Thailand has been highly regarded as a producer of the most vibrant rubies for hundreds of years. The Queen Mother of Thailand (Queen Sirikit) owns an important collection of Thai ruby jewellery, which was worn frequently throughout her reign (1950-2016). A ring to wear and enjoy today this piece combines the birthstone for the months of April and July.
