Description
A classic diamond and sapphire five stone ring from the Victorian period. Featuring three rich blue cushion cut sapphires (0.85ct), and four small Swiss cut diamonds (0.45ct) that have been securely claw set in 18ct yellow gold. Five stone rings are said to represent the five qualities of a good relationship: love, commitment, trust, communication and empathy. They became increasingly popular in the Victorian period when it became fashionable to wear multiple rings on each hand. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives, who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large. Victorians loved anything bestowed with meaning and this was particularly true for jewellery. The 'Romantic' period of this era represented a time of marital bliss for Queen Victoria. A ring to wear and enjoy today this piece combines the birthstone for the months of April and September.
