Sri Lankan Sapphire Cluster Ring with Pear and Oval Diamond Surround 5.63ct in Platinum
Cushion Modern Cut, Four Claw Set
Description
A striking 5.63ct velvety blue cushion cut Sri Lankan sapphire takes centre stage, and has been expertly secured by four hand shaped claws. Spreading elegantly across the finger this impressive gemstone has been perfectly complemented by a dazzling halo of oval and pear cut diamonds (1.42cts). Durable platinum has been richly polished to provide the perfect lustrous setting. Sapphires have been treasured, and set into jewellery since ancient times (during the Middle Ages the blue colour of these magical stones was thought to symbolise Heaven). Found in a number of locations across the globe the characteristic vivid, lighter and brighter blue colour of examples found in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) are hugely sought after. Known as “The Gem Island” Sri Lanka has become famous for producing a wide variety of exceptional quality stones. The example featured here is accompanied by certification from the Gem Research Laboratory to confirm that it has been subjected to heat treatment to enhance its colour and clarity. As a sixth-generation family jeweller Pragnell are experts at sourcing the rarest and most sought after gemstones in the world.
