Antique South Sea Pearl Necklace with Art Deco Diamond Clasp
Trilliant Cut, Rubover Set
Description
A magnificent strand of thirty-one lustrous creamy South-Sea pearls with an unusual trilliant cut diamond Art Deco clasp. The large size, thick nacre and lustrous glow of the very best South Sea cultured pearls combine to ensure a dazzling spectacle when worn against the skin. Grown in the warm waters of Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines South Sea pearls are born from the Pinctada Maxima mollusc, which can grow up to 12 inches in diameter. The wonderful examples showcased here took many years to grow, and even longer to gather together to form this impressive strand. Two trilliant cut diamonds form the clasp, which beautifully completes this strand. Showcasing the strong forms and geometric lines of the famed Art Deco period (1911-1940) these diamonds contrasts superbly with the round tactile forms of the impressive pearls. A truly regal addition to your jewellery box this strand can be worn singly, or layered with existing pendants and necklaces in your collection. A favourite amongst royalty a superb suite of South Sea pearl jewellery was worn by the Duchess of Cambridge during a tour of Germany and Poland in 2017.
