Description
This magnificent nine-piece set, comprising of a hand mirror, two hair brushes, a clothes brush, hat brush, button hook, shoe horn, toilet water bottle and silver mouted oval box. Everything is mounted in chased silver and tortoiseshell, inlaid in silver with swags and floral decoration throughout, the complete set being fitted within a pale suede lined suitcase. The hand mirror is mounted inside the lid; the outer covering of the case is crocodile with chrome locks and fittings.
William Comyns founded his business in 1858. His sons joined him and, as the business expanded, they took up premises just off Regent Street in London. He is renowned for producing some of the finest silver products in England.
