Description
An 18ct yellow gold half hunter pocket watch (3028) with seconds and power reserve sub dials by Victor Kullberg, London, 1915. A fine example featuring a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds at 9.00, and power reserve (up-down) at 3.00. Front case featuring a viewing window, and black roman numerals. Back case featuring an elaborately engraved monogram. Victor Kullberg (1824-1890) was a hugely important figure in English horology with the firm that bore his name achieving acclaim during the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The proud recipient of many medals and honours the business became well known for producing fine quality pocket watches. Based in Liverpool road in London the firm continued until the mid-20th-century after Kullberg’s death in 1890. This example features fine circular engraved movement plates along with a paper label from Camerer Cuss & Co (the well-known London based watch retailer and repairer). Case hallmarked 18ct, London, 1915, makers mark JM (possibly James Melvill) Movement signed: Victor Kullberg 105 Liverpool Rd London, 3028.
