A beautiful octagonal step cut Madagascan blue sapphire commands attention as the centrepiece of this stunning ring. The vibrant sapphire (4.21ct) captivates the eye, securely claw set into richly polished 18ct yellow gold. Sparkling tapered baguette cut diamonds (0.49ct) have been expertly hand selected to sit either side of the central sapphire, discreetly drawing the eye towards the impressive centrepiece with their delicate sparkle. The island country of Madagascar is surrounded by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, and is home to a striking array of flora and fauna. Large sapphire deposits were discovered on the island in the 1990s, and have since become renowned for their exceptional quality, vibrancy and size. The example featured here reminds us of the ocean viewed on a beautiful summer's day, and is the result of trace elements of iron and titanium. This gemstone is accompanied by certification from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), to confirm that it has not been subjected to any heat treatment to enhance its colour.
