Responsible Jewellery Council
Pragnell is proud to be a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the world’s leading sustainability standard-setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry. By implementing the RJC Codes of Practice, we are helping to contribute to the United Nations 2030 agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
About the Responsible Jewellery Council
Founded in 2005, the RJC brings together over 1800 companies of all sizes across the global watch and jewellery supply chain, from retail to mining. Striving to be the recognised standards and certification organisation for supply chain integrity and sustainability in the international jewellery and watch industry, the organisation plays a crucial role in promoting responsible practices and ethical standards within the jewellery and watch industry. Through these standards, certification and collaboration initiatives, the RJC aims to build trust, transparency and sustainability across the entire gold, diamond and coloured gemstone supply chain, benefiting consumers, communities and the environment.
Codes of Practices 2019
The CoP provides a common standard for ethical, social, human rights and environmental practices.
-To improve legal and regulatory compliance and strengthen public reporting.
-To increase the use of due diligence in supply chains to uphold human rights, support community development, promote anti-corruption efforts and manage sourcing risks.
-To use natural resources efficiently.
-To adequately control and disclose product information.
-To secure responsible exploration and mining practices that protect potentially affected communities and environments from adverse impacts.
Chain of Custody 2017
The COC has three main objectives:
- To define an approach for companies to handle and trade gold, silver and platinum group metals in a fully traceable and responsibly sourced way.
- The RJC Chain of Custody certification is a seal of trust; it assures customers and suppliers that your products and materials, from mine to retail, are responsibly sourced, traced, and processed.
- CoC certification adds value to jewellery products and helps protect and enhance jewellery brands.
