Patek Philippe Exhibition 2019
Pragnell hosts the Patek Philippe 2019 Exhibition Collection for the first time
From 18th to 22nd June 2019, Pragnell showcased the Patek Philippe Exhibition Collection in their recently expanded sixteenth century Stratford-upon-Avon showroom.
Pragnell and Patek Philippe enjoy a long history, dating back almost exactly fifty years to the first meeting of Philippe Stern, the Honorary President of Patek Philippe, and Jeremy Pragnell in 1969. Blending Pragnell’s sixteenth century building heritage into the design, the showroom features a newly refurbished Patek Philippe display, showcasing the very best of Patek Philippe timepieces and clocks.
The Patek Philippe 2019 Exhibition Collection encompassed a selection of the most treasured ladies’ and men’s timepieces from the classic collection, alongside refined reinterpretations and brand new watches revealed at Baselworld 2019.
One of the highlights was the Ref. 5212A-001 Calatrava Weekly Calendar, an innovative complication: the weekly calendar, a semi-integrated mechanism displaying the current week number, in addition to the month, day and date. It is also the only steel Calatrava in the current Patek Philippe collection, with a silvery opaline dial and with five hands from the centre. Another special feature is the typography of the letters and numbers on the dial, based on the handwriting of one of the manufacturer's designers.
Patek Philippe revisits the Ref. 5905R-001, which unites two complications highly prized amongst connoisseurs: a self-winding flyback chronograph and a Patek Philippe patented Annual Calendar. The manufacturer is now further enriching its collection with this new version in rose gold with a brown sunburst dial, grading to black at the periphery.
A reinterpretation of the Annual Calendar Regulator in white gold, which was part of the collection until 2018, was also presented at Basel 2019. The Ref. 5235/50R-001 Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator, now in rose gold, is paired with a two-tone dial in graphite and ebony-black with a vertical satin finish and white transfer-printed indications. This reference is the only watch in the collection featuring a regulator-style display.
Patek Philippe further enriched its collection of ladies’ timepieces with the Ref. 7118/1200A - the Ladies Automatic Nautilus in steel with diamond set bezel. The watch is presented in a larger diameter, 35.2mm instead of 33.6mm, in three dial colours: blue opaline, silvery opaline and grey opaline grading to black at the periphery. The steel bracelet comes with the Patek Philippe patented fold-over clasp, endowed with a new adjustment system, enabling the wearer to gain between 2-4 mm of extra bracelet length for increased comfort.
The Patek Philippe Diamond Ribbon Joaillerie Ref. 4978/400G-001 has been reinterpreted in a new white gold design with a slightly larger diameter, increased from 33.3mm to 36.5mm. As a result, the distinctive vortex of precious stones makes the dial stand out in a slim, elegant profile as the timepiece houses the calibre 240, the ultra-thin self-winding movement.
These Patek Philippe timepieces are just a few of the pieces shown in the 2019 Exhibition Collection. It was a rare opportunity to view such a varied selection, giving visitors the chance to admire the pieces and discuss any questions with in-house specialists. For more information please contact us.
