Description
A classic platinum, diamond and Colombian Muzo emerald ring from the Edwardian period. Showcasing refined Edwardian elegance, a slim verdant green 1.90ct emerald glows securely rubover set into complementary 18ct yellow gold. This is surrounded by a halo of romantically sparkling old cut diamonds (0.40ct). Exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail can be seen in the fine setting of these diamonds, and the pierced under bezel that features scroll work motives. The top sections of each shoulder showcase further beautiful scroll work details. Nestled beneath the verdant rainforests that cover the country, the Colombian mines are famous for producing stones that have an intense pure green colour. This example is accompanied by certification from the Gemmological Certification Services to confirm it has only been subjected to minor colour and clarity enhancement. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and coloured gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time.
