Antique Cartier Art Deco Diamond Bracelet 12.17ct in Platinum

A rare platinum bracelet, set with 12.17cts of charming old cut diamonds from the Art Deco period by the House of Cartier. The intense sheen and durability of platinum was highly favoured during this time, as it enabled elaborate designs to be created using numerous stones that would not be obscured by dominant settings. Created during the early 1920s, this bracelet displays iconic geometric shaped links that have been expertly joined together to form an immensely wearable jewel. Standing out when worn on the wrist further old cut diamonds define the centre line set into square shaped surrounds. Fully signed Cartier Paris this bracelet showcases the unmistakeable style and quality that became synonymous with the heart and soul of the House (headed by Louis Cartier). For inspiration the designers referred to the seminal design sourcebook The Grammar of Ornament, which was first published by the architect Owen Jones in 1856. The name of Cartier instantly brings to mind the sparkle of diamonds and the allure of the rich and famous. Since it was founded in Paris in 1847, the House has gone from strength to strength, being famously credited as “the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers” by King Edward VII. The house was as its peak when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1847 to 1964. Worn as single pieces or grouped together for a striking effect, these creations are as wearable today as they were almost a hundred years ago. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was presented with an elaborate example by Prince Philip on their wedding day in 1947. Recently loaned to the Duchess of Cambridge, this was created by Philip Antrobus of Bond Street, which is a business that was later acquired by Pragnell.
