Cabochon Opal and Diamond Drop Earrings in 18ct White Gold
Cabochon Cut, Claw Set
Description
Two cabochon cut black opals (3.94cts) have been expertly claw set as the eye-catching drop sections of these beautiful earrings. Sparkling brilliant (1.10cts) and marquise (1.00cts) cut diamonds form the top sections of each earring, perfectly complementing the striking rainbow display of each opal. These gemstones are a truly unique wonder of nature, with the ethereal flashes of colour emanating from them being hugely desired and sought-after. These particular examples showcase vibrant blues and greens in dazzling patterns. Black opals are largely found in the Lightning Ridge area of Australia, and were formed approximately sixty million years ago, when silica rich water was carried into cracks and voids in the earth. As this water evaporated, it left behind a silica deposit, which formed the beautiful opals that we know today. The very best and most sought-after black opals are rare and special gemstones, and are often set into showpiece rings, pendants and earrings. Handcrafted in our workshops in the heart of England, they offer the superb quality of the Pragnell Seal and showcase exceptional artistry, craftsmanship and gemstones.
