Sparkling brilliant (1.10cts) and marquise (1.00cts) cut diamonds form the top sections of each earring, perfectly complementing the striking rainbow display of each opal. Black opals are largely found in the Lightning Ridge area of Australia, and were formed approximately sixty million years ago, when silica rich water was carried into cracks and voids in the earth.
