Description
A striking wide sapphire and diamond band cocktail ring that has been inspired by the Art Deco period. A central rectangular cut sea blue sapphire has been securely rubover set into platinum as the striking centrepiece of this immensely wearable design. A frame of old cut diamonds surrounds the central sapphire with wide shoulders showcasing geometric arrangements of baguette cut diamonds and square cut sapphires. Pierced openwork sections to the bottom of each shoulder complement these arrangements showcasing strong lines and geometric forms. The Art Deco period (1911-1940) was hugely influential for jewellery design and the wider decorative arts. Statement diamond and coloured gemstone rings and bracelets were worn to maximum effect at glamourous evening soirees. Fashions exposed the hands, wrists and arms which enabled jewellery to stand out as never before.
