Description
An enchanting gold deer brooch from the Art Deco period. A masterfully crafted polished gold mythical deer, complete with elegant legs and a charmingly curious face. The body of the deer is adorned with brilliant cut diamonds and finished with square cut blue sapphires set into the curving antlers and hoof.
The brilliant cut diamonds have been neatly set in a rub over style in white metal, creating a sparkling dappled effect to the body of this whimisical creature.
With World War I over, those with money to spend splashed out on jewellery. Bold and colourful creations were made of high-quality precious metals, like platinum, gold and silver, and covered in emeralds, rubies, sapphires and diamonds.
