Antique Art Deco Diamond Bracelet 16.40ct in Platinum
Brilliant Cut, Grain Set
Description
An eye-catching platinum, old and baguette cut diamond bracelet (16.40cts) from the Art Deco period (c. 1925). This beautiful example consists of three openwork elongated rectangular panels that comfortably encircle the wrist. These are set with a combination of baguette and old cut diamonds in a repeating pattern that features delicate openwork Persian style floral motifs. These panels are joined together by bold oval links that are defined by keystone forms each set with four old cut diamonds. A fine example from the period the clasp is stamped “IRID PLAT”, which tells us that his bracelet is composed of a mixture of platinum and iridium, which was a popular alloy used by American jewellers. The Art Deco period (1911-1940) was hugely important for jewellery and the wider decorative arts. Bracelets were particularly important as fashions exposed the wrists and arms with glamourous evening entertainments becoming more and more popular.
