Description
A geometric platinum, and old cut diamond five row cocktail ring by Rene Boivin from the Art Deco period. A wide five row stepped design catches the eye showcasing the famed strong lines of this most famous period. A central row of old cut diamonds catch the eye with a romantic sparkle, and will come to life when worn around candlelight. This is defined by two stepped rows of smaller diamonds, which perfectly draw the eye towards the larger central stones. This beautiful design looks extremely elegant when worn on the finger, and reminds us of the architecture found in 1930s New York. The engraver and designer Rene Boivin founded the firm bearing his name in Paris during the 1890s. This period was hugely important for jewellery design, and the Boivin name quickly gained a reputation for high quality unconventional pieces that showcased sculptural naturalism. On Boivin’s death in 1917 Madame Rene Boivin took control of the firm, and recruited only female designers to create a series of now iconic designs. These designers included Germaine Boivin, Juliette Moutard and Suzanne Belperron. This ring dates to the 1930s, and would have been designed by one of these famous women. This exceptional piece is the latest addition to our carefully curated selection of fine jewels from the House of Rene Boivin.
