Art Deco 0.65ct Ruby and Diamond Plaque Ring in Platinum

A platinum, ruby and diamond square plaque ring from the Art Deco period. A central square cut rich red ruby has been securely rub over set with a delicate millegrain edge. Two rows of sparkling old cut diamonds have been set into a two-row octagonal surround that has also been beautifully millegrain edged. The gallery has been intricately pierced with a garland pattern, and the shoulders feature a captivating stylised leaf form. This delicate ring showcases an iconic, gleaming, platinum geometric Art Deco plaque form, mouth wateringly combining a striking red ruby with colourless sparkling diamonds. This enticing example was made by the prestigious firm of James William Benson, which was founded in 1847 and produced timepieces and jewellery for Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales.
