1980s Bvlgari Fancy Twisted Link Diamond Necklace 18ct Yellow Gold
Round Brilliant Cut, Grain Set
Description
Since its founding in 1884, the House of Bvlgari has become famous worldwide for the warmth and bright colours of their truly iconic Italian style. The house was as its zenith when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1884 to 2011. Crafted out of richly polished and bold 18ct yellow gold, this beautiful necklace is a truly bold gold 1980s creation, and perfect to wear and enjoy from day to night. The design showcases the unmistakeable hallmarks of the House with a central twisted element that has been expertly grain set with sparkling brilliant cut diamonds. The piece is completed by superbly crafted twisted rope chain links that will sit comfortably on the neck. The popularity of Bvlgari pieces today is largely due to the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor, who was a well-known jewellery collector and connoisseur. Whilst filming Cleopatra in Rome during the 1960s, she fell in love with her co-star Richard Burton and the pair became frequent visitors to the Bvlgari boutique on the Via Condotti. As such, a large number of Bvlgari pieces featured in her extensive collection when it was sold at Christies in 2011. While always revering its cultural legacy, Bvlgari introduced innovations that rewrote the rules of the jewellery universe and launched new trends that stood out as icons of contemporary design.
