1970s Van Cleef & Arpels Diamond Bracelet 2.60ct in 18ct Yellow Gold
Brilliant Cut Diamond Bracelet, with Onyx Links
Description
The house was as its zenith when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1896 to 1999. This bracelet showcases smooth, tactile, rounded oval links that have been expertly carved from midnight polished black onyx. Onyx is a favoured gemstone of the House, and is still widely used in their collections today. For added strength and durability, these have been securely set on to 18ct yellow gold supports. Yellow gold, brilliant cut diamond set (2.60ct) link sections add sparkle and fire, with the colourless quality of the diamonds preserved through expertly setting into white gold inner sections. First seen in the 1960s, which was an important period for the top French jewellery houses, as it was becoming fashionable to wear statement jewels to intimate cocktail parties. During this time, the reputation of Van Cleef & Arpels was at a particular high point, as the House would create the coronation jewels for the Emperor and Empress of Iran in 1967. With a global network of luxury boutiques augmented by the flagship showrooms in Paris and New York, the House was the only destination for the most famous and wealthy personages in the world. The very best designs are truly timeless, and the bold and sculptural style of this piece makes it highly collectible and coveted today.
