Description
An important antique cushion cut diamond Trombino ring by the House of Bvlgari from the 1960s. A delectable cushion cut diamond (4.60ct) takes centre stage securely rubover set into 18ct yellow gold as the striking centrepiece. The characteristic broad shoulders of the Trombino design have been expertly accentuated with diamond set decoration to the four corners. A well-known design from the House the Trombino style enabled diamonds and gemstones to be securely set perfectly showcasing rare and important examples. The magnificent diamond set into this ring is accompanied by certification from the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) to confirm sought after F colour and VS2 clarity grades. Since it was founded in 1884 the House of Bvlgari has become famous worldwide for their bold and striking designs. The house was as its peak when it was owned and run by the founding family from 1884 to 2011. The Trombino or "little trumpet" design is a well-known statement style that was first seen in the early 1930s and is still produced by the House today. The late Hollywood star and renowned jewellery collector. Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) first became acquainted with Bvlgari whilst filming Cleopatra in Rome during the 1960s. Her vast collection of jewellery was auctioned at Christies in 2011 and featured many Bvlgari pieces including a platinum and sapphire Trombino ring.
