Description
A striking sapphire and diamond three stone ring that has been inspired by the Edwardian period. A central old cut diamond (0.75ct) has been securely millegrain set into platinum. Two rich sea blue sapphires (0.65ct) have been set (longitudinally) either side of the central diamond. A millegrain edged outer halo of small old cut diamonds forms an elegant slim oval shape. Intricate knife edge openwork decoration provides interest connecting the diamond and sapphires to the outer halo. An openwork gallery and partially reeded shank complete this beautiful ring. The Edwardian period (1901-1910) saw an explosion in jewellery design and craftsmanship. Lustrous and durable platinum enabled minimal and intricate setting styles, which can be seen here in the knife edge elements. This was driven by the royal court, which was steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Combining the birthstones for the months of April and September this will make a beautiful and sentimental dress ring.
