Description
A fine platinum, diamond and rectangular step cut Colombian emerald ring by the House of Spaulding & Co from the Edwardian period (c. 1905). Showcasing refined Edwardian elegance a verdant green 3.70ct emerald glows delicately claw set, and surrounded by a millegrain edged double octagonal halo that has been set with sparkling old cut diamonds. Exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail can be seen in the fine setting of these diamonds, and the pierced under bezel that features a polished garland motif. The top sections of each shoulder have been formed into three pronged openwork motifs, and showcase further refined diamond setting. Nestled beneath the verdant rainforests that cover the country, the Colombian mines are famous for producing stones that have an intense pure green colour. This is example is accompanied by certification from the renowned SSEF (Swiss Gemmological Institute) laboratory to confirm it has not been subjected to any clarity modifications. The American House of Spaulding & Co was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1888, and became renowned for producing the best quality jewellery and watches. Born in 1837 Henry A.
