Description
A striking platinum and white gold buckle motif ring from the Art Deco period. Elegantly curved to sit perfectly on the finger channel set baguette cut sea blue sapphires form the prong of the buckle design. The shaped frame has been expertly set with sparkling round cut diamonds that perfectly complement the central blue sapphires. Jewellery designed to represent buckles became popular during the earlier Victorian period with rich symbolism focused on the binding of two individuals in love or friendship. This strong form was again popularised during the Art Deco period as it could be perfectly adapted to cocktail jewels showcasing superb sculptural combinations of diamonds and gemstones. This example features the birthstones for the months of April and September, and is hallmarked with the French import mark for Paris.
